The rains, flowers, seasons,
our physical lives and dreams
come and go like the waves—
devotees are blessed to see
everything in perspective
the knowledge of all Truths
the real spiritual Mauna
of service to Krishna…..

A dry day and a half
ground cracking, thirsty
a forecast of rain
then clouds joyfully come.
Forest trees
and animals celebrate
the first smell of rain
then a delirious downpour.
On the front porch
sitting to write
in the cool, moist air
listening, watching, thinking.
Grey skies bring out
the vibrancy of forest green
echo of rain on trees
water gushes from the gutters.
Whoops—I say, seeing
the empty bird feeder
as the birds high
I fill it with sunflower seeds.
Cute finches and red Cardinals
teach the Truth beyond
superficial appearances—
even though there is plenty
birds fight for their share
always fearing, looking ‘round
for possible predators.
Our experience of the country:
it’s favorable for spiritual life
if one is thoughtful, observant
so many lessons are demonstrated.
Nature’s beauty observed
not independent of God
as we are reminded
to give credit to the Source—
Shri Krishna,
the Cause of all causes.
Amidst lush Nature’s beauty
the material laws ugliness
one creature is food for another
all struggle against death, disease—
this fact turned Darwin into atheist:
Why?
He didn’t know
the beauty of the creator Lord
his loving kindness for us
who are part of him
or the perfect purpose behind
what appear as cruel material laws.
The world is meant for rectification
through practical education—
the School of Hard Knocks
in the World of Death
of false hopes
dashed, vain promises
illusory, unfulfilled dreams
the merry-go-round
of birth and death,
meant to push us to
search out our Maker
his world of blissful Light
harmonious life of souls
in unity of Godly love and service.
The first Sunflowers
and Zinnias bloom
finding a place in vases
before Radha and Krishna
upon whose laws
they miraculously grow
from seed to flower
then wither and die
for next years flowers
of temporary splendor.
The rains, flowers, seasons,
our physical lives and dreams
come and go like the waves—
devotees are blessed to see
everything in perspective
the knowledge of all Truths
the real spiritual Mauna
of service to Krishna
his humble, wise devotees
with our aim of always remembering
Krishna amidst beauty and sorrow
to return to our natural, eternal home
the blissful Land of Love
of deathless rejoicing
obtaining which is
the real Success of life.
