Sensual desires come like waves
trying to wash me out to sea,
but I usually stay on the beach, bruised
but alive, to see low tides peace.
Sensual desires come like waves
trying to wash me out to sea,
but I usually stay on the beach, bruised
but alive, to see low tides peace.
Often whatever situation we are in
we want to taste the opposite,
so in the quite and serene peace
we pray for the storm of intensity.
(or visa versa)
Until we realize someday
that all the peace or tempest–
the extremes of material duality
are really different types of misery.
Then we will be convinced
about our spiritual identity,
and see every material condition
as foreign, unnatural, external.
And finally give up our vain pursuit
of sensuality, ego domination—
of owning things and ruling people
and return to the loving arms of Krishna.
