A few days ago Queen Elizabeth and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, visited the Krishna-Avanti school in Harrow, a district in north-west London. The royal visit was part of her Diamond Jubilee tour, celebrating 60 years on the throne.
The school is the first Hindu faith school in the country and teaches Bhagavad-gita, yoga, and Sanskrit. In addition, there is a Krishna-Balarama temple at the school’s heart. As the royals sat in the main hall, the children sang to them a Vaishnava bhajan written by the great 16th century saint, Narottama Das Thakur.

The Queen then unveiled a tapestry depicting Caitanya Mahaprabhu dancing in the Jharikandha forest surrounded by ecstatic forest animals.
For Vaishnavas, it was a special day to remember.
