The Middle of The Room

Hare Krishna 🙂
I was having this dream once where I was in the middle of this room, and all around me, there were enemies coming, from all sides, and in all kinds of ways….
Some were attacking me with weapons, while others were plotting various schemes to discredit me and destroy my various family members. Some of my friends and family were there also being harmed, and needed my help and protection.
There were so many attacks, on so many levels, and they were all coming at me at once, there was no possible way I could address or manage all of them….

So, how could I choose? Should I fight off the serpent at my feet about to strike? Should I try to prevent the fire being started to burn me? Should I race over to try to protect my friend from harm? It put me into total chaos and confusion, just trying to figure out what to do…. I couldn’t tell if there was any best choice, there was not even time to think about what that would be if there was one.
I was so relieved to wake up from this dream, of course, but it started me thinking….
I was thinking how in this material world, our condition is really very much like this.
We are really being attacked at all times by the material energy, though we may not always realize it.
A lot of the time we do, such as if there is an actual threat to us, or our loved ones…. then we surely know we are in danger.
Other times, we are thinking we are not in danger, but someone could be trying to harm us that we don’t even know about. Or perhaps we have some illness that we are not yet aware of.
Then further, there is the ultimate fact that our lives are precarious, we could die at any moment, and we may not have done everything we needed to do with this life, and most especially, we may not have done everything we needed to do to prepare ourselves spiritually for this final test.
When we remember that we are actually in this very dangerous situation here in this material world, then that can assist us in becoming Krishna conscious because we know that there is ‘danger at every step’ as Srila Prabhupad has told us.
That understanding can then motivate us to make every effort we can to stay focused on the purpose of human life, i.e. to become Krishna conscious.
We can also understand that there really is only one ‘best choice’ in terms of dealing with the various forms of suffering we endure here, and that choice is to take shelter of Krishna and not waste our time trying to address every single ‘attack’ that might come our way… I’m not talking about literal attacks when I say this, I just meant the various ‘distresses’ of our lives.
Thank you,
Hare Krishna 🙂 🙂 🙂

ONCE BHIMA HAD A PROBLEM

Hare krishna,
Once Bhima was going through a forest .He happened to see a pregnent deer was drinking water from the river .He saw a hunter aiming his arrow at the deer on one side and a tiger on the other side aiming to attack the deer . Bhima thought some how he must save the deer. But he was helpless. He felt so much compassion for the deer,so he CALLED KRISHNA with all his energy .Immediately there was a thunder and lightining, the hunters aim missed and the arrow poked on the tiger and the deer was saved .So what we understand from this is that ,there are situations which we can manage and some situations we cannot manage. If we are a surrendered soul to Krishna , then He will manage the situation .He can manage any kind of situations .We all are dependent on Krishna. In such situations we realise that we are nothing .So always be aware that my master will help me .He is there always with you .He is so close to you than anyone else .we just forget ,and do not realise that He is so close to us .Hope this answer will satisfy your quest.

Krishna Is Close

Hare Krishna, Dear Prabhu,
This is wonderful, this story is a perfect example of what we’ve been discussing here, about how there will always be things that are beyond our control, that we can’t manage.
But, as you’ve said, Krishna can and does manage them all…. we just simply forget the truth and reality of that.
Thank you for this nice reminder. Yes, it does give us a nice answer to this quest.
Realizing Krishna is close at all times, and in control of everything and keeping watch and protecting us is what we all need to remember. I do especially.
Hare Krishna, thank you for your nice comments here.
Love,
Navasi

Mind is a prostitute.

Dear devotees,
Sorry for using this language. It is true that our mind is like a prostitute that clings and keeps wandering about. The only solution is Think about krishna all the time. You want to paint Paint Krishna. You want to sing Sing his songs. You want to read Bhagvad Gita. You want to see a movie see his movies. I write his name in my hands and keep seeing him all the time. Hare Krishna.

The Mind

Hare Krishna, Dear Vikram,
There is nothing at all wrong with your language….
Srila Prabhupad uses this word in his examples of things lots of times….
I’ll tell you another way that the mind is like a prostitute….
It will keep us busily occupied with material sense gratification so much so that we will forget that our lives are going by at a rapid speed and we are simply wasting them lost in this “enjoyment”….
Just the same as happens when someone is lost in the arms of a prostitute… there is no ultimate good going to come out of it.
There will not be anything beneficial, no good children will be produced from this relationship, only time wasting.
So, I think your comparison is very accurate.
So, we have to be sure we are not wasting our time caught up with the prostitute of our own minds, then…..
Hare Krishna,
Love,
Navasi

Hare Krishna

Hare Krishna Navasi Ji,
What you have stated is very much the truth. This is the most difficult thing I face in my day to day life. Attimes I forget about my real motive and start indulging in this material world. May be because my association is not there with those who are Krishna followers. But it is not possible for me as I work nights and I hardly get time to interact with anyone.

To the most I limit myself but attimes you want to go out and just enjoy. I cant expect people to follow what I am folowing and there comes the problem when I try to keep myself away from this worldly pleasures but then as you rightly mentioned it is very hard.

It is just so difficult when you see people and things around you… Is there a limit NO but Yes, there a way to beat that.. just keep trying…

It gets frustrating as I am confused attimes thinking man what am I doing… but then, Life goes on as one has to try every moment of his or her life.

So Hari Bol and keep trying is what I do.

Hare Krishna.

Wordly Pleasures

Hare Krishna, Dear Vikas,
Yes, I understand what you are saying, and that’s a very difficult and precarious situation you are in.
Having to work nights, and so much being alone, and then your only association is with people who are interested only in these worldly pleasures.
You can’t just be alone all the time, you need some friends, some people to be with sometimes, that’s important.
But, when you are with them, then you are completely surrounded and inundated with all this material sense indulgence which is a threat to your soul, and your spiritual progress.
That’s a very difficult and troublesome condition, I agree….
You will need to try to take shelter of the Holy Names of the Lord, and associate with Krishna, as much as you possibly can.
By hearing (which also means reading), and chanting, you will get protection from these attacks that are coming from this situation.
Also, spend as much time as you can, on this website, talking to devotees, as you are doing, because virtual association, is still association, and in this way, you will be “with” people who are trying to appreciate that the entire purpose and meaning of human life is to discover our relationship with Krishna, and not waste this golden opportunity indulging in sense pleasure, which will ultimately get us nowhere except another birth in the material world, and next time, it won’t even be a human birth.
If we don’t utilize this human life to cultivate our spiritual life, it is the law of the material nature that we will then loose this opportunity and be forced to take birth in an animal body in our next life.
I know this is very intense, but it may help you cope with all of your associates that are trying (though perhaps not intentionally) to pull you away from this essential mission of your life, if you realize that they are missing out on the real thing…. it’s not you that’s “missing out” on things… If you know what I mean.
Thank you for sharing, Vikas.
Love,
Navasi

Hare Krishna

Hare Krishna,
Dear Navasi,
It gets frustrating attimes but then I try to battle it out.. I know the process is on and specially when I am working odd hours and dont have the luxury to meet like minded people during the day hours as I am sleeping.

So the fight is on but then attimes things are completely out of my control… But it is good that we have this virtual system as you mentioned.. I can talk to you & all as and when I want…

Such is Life you see….

The Process

Hare Krishna, Vikas,
That’s so good that you’ve got the process going on….
The process is just like a recipe for success:

The Process:
Hearing (which also means reading)
Chanting
Remembering
Krishna.

Then your success is guaranteed.

So True

dear Navasi, this is exactly how I feel.

Last night I was thinking about this, how in material life, we might think for a while that things are going well. Everything seems okay, maybe we think we are caught up on our bills and stuff. But then we get another bill that is unexpected, and how are we going to pay that? Or we have a health problem and maybe money cannot solve it.

There are indeed so many problematic conditions of material life. Perhaps the best thing to do is to water the root of the tree, which as I have read is Krishna and the best way to water the root (the only way to sustain the real Tree of our true selves) is by chanting and devotional service.

Root Watering

Hare Krishna, Dear Rebecca,
Well, you are certainly reading right!
I know you have a lot of experience with plant care, so perhaps that has helped you in understanding this concept so very well.
As you know, you cannot hope to water the leaves of a tree, or any plant, and have it survive, what to speak of thrive.
We could pour water on those leaves and branches all day and night, but the tree would still die….
So, you are absolutely right, the only real method of keeping the tree of our soul “alive” is to water the root, by the practice of Krishna consciousness, hearing and chanting and engaging in devotional service…
Wonderful comments…
Thank you so much.
Love,
Navasi
