Vakreshvara Pandit is mentioned in Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita for his ecstatic dancing. Once, in the house of Srivasa Thakura, he danced in constant ecstasy for seventy-two hours. He made many disciples, especially in Orissa, among them Sri Gopala-guru Goswami.

According to scripture, Vakreshvara Pandit was an incarnation of Aniruddha, one of the quadruple expansions of Vishnu (Vasudeva, Sankarsana, Aniruddha and Pradyumna).
