Shyamananda Prabhu (aka Shyamananda Pandita), a near-contemporary of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and disciple of Hridaya Chaitanya, established the temple of Sri Radha-Shyamasundara in Vrindavan. On the order of his spiritual master, Shyamananda, along with his foremost disciple, Rasikananda Prabhu, spread the worship and service of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu throughout Orissa. Shyamananda was also a member of the party – with Srinivas Acharya and Narottama dasa Thakura – that first brought the books of the six Goswamis from Vrindavan to Bengal and Orissa.
