Sattva produces attachment to happiness. When one is contaminated by goodness, he is too self satisfied to follow the dictates of the Supersoul. Rajas produces attachment to fruitive action. When one is contaminated by the mode of passion, his desires speak too loudly that he cannot hear the voice of the Supersoul. Tamas, covering knowledge produces attachment to madness or inattention. If one is contaminated by the mode of ignorance, he is too inert, ignorant and mad to hear the Supersoul.
